Can my Body Type Wear this? Of Course it can!

Especially with warmer weather approaching, everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their own skin and not be judged for what they choose to wear. Body positivity has become a widespread movement that focuses on fashion- so no matter what your size is, buy that crop top, wear those shorts and put on that dress that hugs your body with confidence!

However, women with more curves still struggle to find clothing that fits them properly. The task of finding plus-size clothing at the mall can feel like a never-ending struggle, especially when the retailer only offers limited sizes.

Keep your mind open to online shopping because there are clothing sites that offer a vast array of sizes. And the best part? They make shopping affordable, and you don’t have to leave the comfort of your home!

Swimsuits For All promotes loving your body and feeling free in their swimwear. Their site features a variety of styles perfect for pear-shaped bodies, apple-shaped bodies and any body in between! The site’s swimsuit guide also helps shoppers find the style that suits them most, and their other accessories, including sunglasses, sandals and sun hats are the perfect touch to the summer look you wish to achieve.

Modcloth believes fashion is for every body and offers a full-size range from xxs to 4x. The company doubled their plus-size business, expanding from 35 vendors to 160. And the styles are endless. They carry 1,200 unique styles at any time and it’s their fastest growing category. Plus-size shoppers place 20% more orders so it is time to hop on the bandwagon and see what all the chatter is about!

Good American, Khloe Kardashian’s clothing label, drops their collections with one goal in mind: to celebrate your body. For summer, the company introduced a chic range of dresses that puts your curves on display. And what’s better than a high-quality compression that molds to your body and holds its shape?

Girlfriend Collective believes in ethical manufacturing and recycled materials and that health and wellness comes in many shapes and sizes. High end fit and feel isn’t a matter of cost but a matter of time to them, and they take the time to ensure each of their designs is so beautiful that you won’t cycle through it the next time you go through your closet. See for yourself the quality of their clothing!

Coachella Looks: Perfect for the Summer Wardrobe!

With summer slowly approaching, festivals are sure to accompany. And what better way to have fun with fashion than with the sequins, glitter and metallics that are essential for these festivals? This is not the season to go subtle, and any 2019 Coachella festivalgoer could tell you that.

There will always be the reliable denim cutoffs and crocheted dresses, but after the years of boho and fedoras, a change finally occurred when Hollywood descended upon Indio for Coachella this year. The celebrities present displayed a refreshing mix of styles that could provide inspiration when you sift through your summer wardrobe.

Tie-dye has been taking over Gigi Hadid’s wardrobe for quite some time, and the style was seen again when she wore a tie-dye vest by Ganni at the Coachella kick-off event. She styled it with a cropped white camisole underneath, floral-printed trousers and heavy combat boots. With an array of colorful accessories, she took her outfit to the next level. Tie-dye is the perfect statement for summer festivalgoers that aim to be seen!

If you wanted to be bold and stray away from the cliché styles of summer festivals, Selena Gomez is the influencer for you! When she decided on a pristine white outfit that was covered in ruffles and lace, she became a Victorian-style goddess. A pair of sleek, pointy white boots completed the monochromatic look. Who is to say Victorian era-inspired looks can’t be incorporated into the summer wardrobe? She killed it and so can you!

Oversized with layers- as long as you don’t overdo it, you’ll be comfortable. Billie Eilish is quite familiar with this look and definitely influenced some of the Coachella crowd’s style. Although baggy is her everyday look, she took it up a notch at Coachella with her neon green T-shirt, shield sunglasses and heavy blue fur pants despite the 91 degree temperature. Maybe don’t take it as far as Eilish, but layering can be done correctly in the summer, especially in colder states! It’s all about finding a balance between indulging and smart clothing.

All in all, don’t be afraid to push yourself out of your comfort zone, but don’t change who you are. You deserve a moment in the fashion spotlight!

Don’t Throw a Fit: Thrift Outfits Made Easy

When you pass up Salvation Army or Goodwill, maybe you think about Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s 2012 hit, “Thrift Shop.” But did you ever think of hopping on the bandwagon of “thrifting” and finding out where all of the hype surrounding this inexpensive hobby is coming from these days?

I’m looking at you, college students. Let’s begin with the most obvious reason why you might want to start thinking about joining your fellow “thrifters.” Finding cheap items that would normally be more (sometimes much more) expensive elsewhere feels like a huge accomplishment, especially when university is eating up all your money. R.I.P. to all of the unused textbooks we spent hundreds on.

Second of all, it’s great for the environment! It takes a lot of energy from the transportation of materials to the production process. By thrifting, you’re lowering your carbon footprint, reducing chemical pollution and decreasing landfill waste. Good job, smart shopper.

If my reasonings have convinced you, here are some ways to start your thrifting experience.

Strategize

Yes, the rows and rows of clothing can seem a bit intimidating at first. Start off by thinking about if you’re looking for anything specific. Do you need a new pair of pants because you couldn’t escape the Freshman 15? Can’t find that crop top you swore you brought to the dorm with you after visiting home? Make a mental note and start in that section. If you don’t have anything particular in mind, the rows are usually color coordinated and separated by season so just keep an eye out for those fabrics, patterns and textures.

 Get Your Hands Dirty

You’re never going to find that buried treasure if you’re not willing to push through the hangers of clothing! So if you’re a germaphobe or agree with the stigma that secondhand items are “dirty,” this isn’t the scene for you. That just means that valuable Roland Mouret gown buried under the pile of polyester is going to someone deserving of it. Thrifting is an extreme sport and not for the faint of heart!

Double Check

Make sure you give the item you’re interested in a second look to avoid those with stains, holes or tears. The last thing you want is to go home with that cute American Eagle button-up only to realize there are buttons missing! So give everything in your cart an inspection before getting in line to check out.

Good luck with your first shopping mission! Don’t feel discouraged if you don’t find anything the first time. The merchandise is always changing and definitely worth the wait.
